Our
         Journey

In the heat of Mand Mour, Punjab, brothers Tirlochan and Paramjit Mand harbored a shared dream - to transplant the vibrant flavors of Punjabi cuisine to the United States. Fueled by their elder brother's successful example, they embarked on this ambitious journey in 1992. Packed with determination, they boarded a plane, their minimal luggage a testament to their unwavering resolve. Arriving at their elder brother's restaurant marked the start of their journey. For the next four years, they navigated the intricate tapestry of American life, honing their skills in cooking, cleaning, and the nuances of restaurant operations. This transformative experience not only developed business experience but also underscored the profound importance of disseminating Punjabi culture in the heart of America.

Having learned all there was to master about operating a restaurant, Tirlochan and Paramjit decided to forge their path by opening their own establishment - the inaugural King Restaurant in Fishers, Indiana. The launch garnered attention, yet despite initial excitement, the restaurant faced closure within six months due to minimal traction. Rather than viewing this as a setback, however, the brothers viewed it as another pivotal step in their journey, a valuable lesson that would shape their future endeavors. Undeterred, they carried this wisdom with them as they relocated to Minnesota. In November 2003, a mere two months after settling in, Tirlochan and Paramjit seized an opportunity to apply the lessons from their past venture and founded India Palace in Eden Prairie.

This time, the brothers not only ensured that word of their restaurant reverberated across town, but they also strategized to sustain traction well beyond the initial days. Actively engaging with the community, catering events, and crafting sumptuous dishes, they aimed to capture the hearts of Eden Prairie's residents. Soon, their culinary offerings became synonymous with Punjabi culture in Minnesota, transforming their restaurant into a cherished sanctuary. Two decades later, the Mand brothers have blossomed into a culinary empire, boasting ten restaurants under the Mand family name. From Punjab, India, to Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and now spanning Texas, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Colorado, they have evolved into a symbolic force of Punjabi culture and cuisine, bringing vibrancy to the plates and lives of all who savor their delicious creations.
